Analysis of Research Hotspots in Biology and Medicine Master′s Theses from 2022 to 2023

Abstract: Objective: By applying the methods of bibliometrics and visual analysis, this study analyzes the master′s theses in the field of biology and medicine from 2022 to 2023 included in China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database and Wanfang Database, aiming to understand the research hotspots and frontiers in this field. Methods: Dissertations of professional master′s degree in biology and medicine from 2022 to 2023 in CNIK database and Wanfang database were searched. Use Excel 2016 and other software to generate charts of the number of dissertations in different years, universities and regions, interdisciplinary studies, mentor training models, as well as the quantity and types of references. Using CiteSpace 6.3.1 and VOSviewer 1.6.19 to conduct cluster analysis, strategic coordinate analysis and burst analysis of keywords. Results: A total of 518 relevant dissertations were retrieved out, with high-yield institutions concentrated in key colleges and universities in the eastern region, and medical and health subject areas tending to cross with industrial technology and other disciplines. The training of professional master′s students emphasized the enhancement of practical skills. Emerging research hotspots included novel drug delivery systems, drug design and discovery, disease treatment mechanisms, and microbiological research. Conclusion: The number of master′s theses in the field of biology and medicine increased significantly in 2023 compared to 2022, with frequent cross-disciplinary cooperation and interdisciplinary integration. Future research may focus on utilizing novel nanomaterials for precise drug delivery, uncovering pathogenic mechanisms and SNP loci of multifactorial diseases via network pharmacology, applying machine learning to assist drug design, and leveraging gene editing technology to advance drug development.
