Abstract: Objective:The oil yield and activity of two kinds of rosemary essential oils from Dali were compared. Methods: The essential oils of two kinds of rosemary were extracted by water distillation and the oil rate was calculated; The bacteriostatic activity was determined by bacteriostatic circle method. The antioxidant activity was determined by DPPH method. Results: The oil yield of creeping rosemary was 0.387% and that of erect rosemary was 0.703%. There was significant difference between the two kinds of rosemary (P=0.028<0.05). Antibacterial experiments showed that the two rosemary essential oils had antibacterial effects on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, but the difference between the two rosemary essential oils was not statistically significant (P>0.05). The two kinds of rosemary essential oils had a strong scavenging rate for DPPH free radicals, but there was no significant difference in antioxidant activity between the two kinds of rosemary essential oils (P=0.728>0.05).Conclusion: The oil yield of erect rosemary was better than that of creeping rosemary, but there was no significant difference between the two essential oils.
