Abstract: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a non-infectious chronic inflammatory disease of the nasal mucosa caused by exposure of an atopic individual to an allergen. As a member of the IL-1 family,IL-33 plays an important role in allergic rhinitis by binding to its receptor ST2 after activation of allergens such as pollen. This article reviews the research progress of IL-33 and its receptor ST2 in AR, and analyzed the mechanism of IL-33/ST2 pathway used of traditional Chinese medicine compound in allergic diseases.
