Observation on the Therapeutic Effect of Triptorelin on Abnormal Sexual Characteristics of Children with Precocious Puberty

Abstract

Objective： To investigate the effect of triptorelin treatment on abnormal sexual characteristics in girls with precocious puberty(PP). Methods： A retrospective analysis was conducted on 35 girls with central precocious puberty(CPP) admitted to the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Jiaozuo City from January 2023 to September 2024， who received triptorelin therapy as the study group. Another 35 girls diagnosed with CPP but did not receive treatment during the same period were selected as the control group. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed in a 1∶1 ratio， with matched covariates including age， bone age， and baseline sex hormone levels. The height growth rate， bone age/chronological age ratio， sex hormone levels (E2， LH， FSH)， uterine and ovarian volumes， body esteem scale(BES) score， and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results：No significant differences were found in baseline characteristics between the two groups (P＞0.05). The total clinical effective rate was 85.71% (30/35) in the study group. After treatment， the study group showed significantly lower height growth rate， bone age/chronological age ratio， and levels of E2， LH， and FSH compared with the control group (P<0.05). In terms of abnormal sexual characteristics， uterine volume， left ovarian volume， and right ovarian volume in the study group were significantly smaller than those in the control group (P<0.05). Additionally， BES scores were significantly higher in the study group (P<0.05). The overall incidence of adverse reactions in the study group was 8.57% (3/35). Conclusion： Triptorelin treatment demonstrates significant clinical efficacy and acceptable safety in suppressing the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis， delaying bone age progression， reducing gonadal volume， and potentially improving body esteem in girls with CPP.
