Preparation and Preliminary Quality Evaluation of Chinese Medicine Transdermal Gel for Pediatric Mesenteric Lymphadenitis

Abstract

Objective: To optimize the preparation process of a Chinese medicine transdermal gel for pediatric mesenteric lymphadenitis and conduct a preliminary quality evaluation. Methods: Using appearance, pH value, centrifugal stability, moisture retention, heat resistance, cold resistance, and multi-component content determination as evaluation indices, the optimal gel matrix concentration was screened by a multi-index weighted comprehensive scoring method. The preliminary stability investigation of the optimized formulation was conducted for a period of 6 months, and its dispersibility and rheological properties were evaluated. Results: The gel prepared with 1.5% carbomer as the matrix achieved the highest comprehensive score. It exhibited a uniform and fine appearance, appropriate pH value, good stability and moisture retention, with the contents of multiple index components meeting the expected standards. The formulation remained stable after 6 months of storage at room temperature, demonstrated typical pseudoplastic fluid behavior in rheological tests, and showed good dispersibility. Conclusion: The optimized preparation process for the Chinese medicine transdermal gel for pediatric mesenteric lymphadenitis is stable and feasible, and the quality of the formulation is controllable, providing an experimental basis for its subsequent development and clinical promotion.
