Abstract: Objective： To analyze the application of montelukast sodium in outpatients from our hospital， so as to provide references for clinical rational use of drug. Methods： The prescriptions containing montelukast sodium application in outpatient department of our Hospital from January to June in 2020 were extracted by systematic sampling. Patients′ age， drug dosage and formulations and indication classified statistically. Results： Totally， there were 8193 pieces of prescription available. Montelukast sodium was mostly used for children aged 2 to 5 years old. There were about 0.71 percent of patients who were younger than six months. It′s worth noting that montelukast sodium was not approved for infant below six months. The dosage in our research was mainly 4 mg， chewable tablets. Among all the prescription， there was about 2.58 percent of patients overdose and 3.89 percent of patients underdose. Montelukast sodium was mainly used for treating diseases of respiratory infection， asthma and rhinitis. Conclusion： There were some unreasonable application of montelukast sodium in our hospital， such as off-label use and overprescribing of medicines. Clinical application should pay more attention to indication. We should choose the more appropriate dosage and formulation for children according to their age， so as to ensure the safety， effectiveness and economy of medication.
